The service is a part of OxygenOS Open Beta 7, which is currently only available in OnePlus 6. However, we can fully expect the update to reach some other OnePlus mobile phones in the near future. One smartphone that will surely get the update is OnePlus’ current flagship OnePlus 6T. The Chinese smartphone maker has spoken about OnePlus Roaming in a post on their forum. According to the company, the new service basically works like a virtual SIM card. However, it is only limited to data access and cannot be used to make voice calls using the traditional network. The company is being very specific about this and has said, “OnePlus Roaming lets you surf the Internet without a local SIM card.” But then, we think it will work for someone who can live for a few days by making calls from services like WhatsApp and Skype instead. You can access the OnePlus Roaming service only after you install the OxygenOS Open Beta 7 on your OnePlus 6 smartphone. If you have the update and want to access the new service, you need to head to ‘Settings’ of your smartphone and then select ‘Wi-Fi’. After this, you need to press on ‘Internet’ and you’ll be able to see the option using which you can purchase a package to enable data access without a local SIM card. Once you purchase a package, it will start appearing in your Ordered list. You can enable the package from your ordered list when you reach your destination. OnePlus has not guaranteed that it has packages for all countries and regions and it is worth noticing that the values of packages may vary country wise or region wise. Along with the OnePlus Roaming service, the update also gets a Video Enhancer feature that enhances colours to deliver users a better video watching experience. In order to access the Video Enhancer feature, users need to head to ‘Settings’ and then ‘Display’.
