Just like a flu virus which cannot spread without a host cell, a computer virus cannot spread without attaching itself to a file or a document. It can spread in one or more computers which are part of the same network. A virus alters the way a computer functions. At first, it attaches itself to a legitimate program that supports macros to execute its code and then it starts inflicting damage on the computer. The effects of a virus can be very unpredictable. It may harm the system’s software or completely corrupt or destroy the data stored in it. There are plenty of options you can choose from and the popular ones include McAfee and Norton security. These keep your system safe and alert you in case you are about to download a file or program that has malware.
